Zhou Pingkun, Doctor of Medicine, Doctoral Tutor. He is currently the Director of Science and Technology Committee, Research Fellow, Beijing Key Laboratory of Radiobiology, Institute of Radiation Medicine, Academy of Military Medical Sciences, and Chairman of Chinese Toxicology Society. The winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, the chief scientist of the National 973 Project, the expert of the Chinese Advisory Group of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), the deputy editor of the Toxicology Research magazine of the Royal British Chemical Society, and the chairman of the Military Radiation Medical Professional Committee. Long-term research in radiation biology and medical protection against radiation damage has revealed exciting effects of DNA repair induced by low dose radiation, revealed new mechanisms of repair regulation of genome damage induced by radiation and cell mitotic catastrophic death, achieved a breakthrough in rapid detection of radiation damage at low dose, and developed molecular targets and effective protection techniques against radiation damage in space. Published more than 110 SCI papers, won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked first), the first prize of Military Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked first), four second prizes, authorized six national invention patents, and one American patent. It was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Radiation Research" by the Asian Radiation Research Association and the "National Excellent Scientific and Technological Workers" by the Chinese Association of Science and Technology.
