The Chinese Society of Toxicology(CST) is a non-profit national academic organization composed of the experts and professionals in the field of toxicological science and technology in China. CST was founded in November 10, 1993, is one of the national organizations affiliated to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. CST is an active member of the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) and a founding member of the Asian Society of Toxicology(ASIATOX).

CST is committed to improve people’s health and environmental safety by promoting toxicology innovation and application, as well as increasing the impact of toxicology solutions in China and abroad. The aims of CST are to extensively mobilize, unite and serve the toxicologists all over China, push forward the development and prosperity of toxicology science in China, promote the career growth of toxicology professionals and young talents, popularize toxicological science to public.

In recent years, CST has been making rapid progresses in its development and social impact. By the end of 2018, CST has 28 affiliated Specialty committees, more than 15,000 individual members, 185 group-members and 8 provincial branches. The members are from the universities, research institutes, hospitals, national and local centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), toxicology-related governmental administrating & health supervision authorities, industries, etc. CST elects it national Council in the National Congress of CST Members Representatives. The Council are composed of 150 members from the outstanding scholars and skilled experts working in the area of toxicology all over the country. The term of CST Council office is four years.

The National Toxicology Congress of Chinese Society of Toxicology (NTCCST) is the highest academic event of toxicology in China, it is hosted by CST every 2 years. CST also organizes its Youth Forum of Science and Technology every two years. In addition, a series of abroad topics of conferences, workshops and continuing education courses are held every year by CST and its Specialty Committees. A series of international conferences were held successfully, e.g. the 5th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries (2003, Guilin), the 4th International Congress of Asian society of Toxicology (2006, Zhuhai), the Forum and Training of Risk Assessment held in cooperation with IUTOX, the third International Conference on Biomedical and Environmental Science and Technology (icBEST) (2010, Beijing), the 13th International Neurotoxicology Association Meeting (2011, Xi’an), the 6th International Conference on Nanotoxicology (2012, Beijing), Regulatory Toxicology & Risk Assessment Course (IUTOX/CST, 2014), with ACT to co-organize a SD Training Course(2017, 2018, Shanghai), and Asian Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (AsiaNANO, 2018).

CST, jointly with the British Toxicology Society (BTS) and UK Royal Society of Chemistry, launched its official journal of Toxicology Research in 2012. The CST is also responsible for certifying and issuing the Diplomat of Certified Toxicologist (DCST) from 2008. CST is actively participating in and promoting the international mutual recognition from International Union of Toxicology. It is expected to make the first batch of IRT (IUTOX Recognized Toxicologist) which a member of DCST.

CST looks forward to further closely cooperating with IUTOX and its member societies, other international and local organizations over the world, to thrive toxicology solutions benefiting environmental safety and human health.
